After hiking around Bahia, I explored the trendy island of Morro de Sao Paolo. It had amazing remote beaches, seaside lobster shacks, fresh oysters and stunning sunsets. From there I spent a week in Itacare, known for it's strong surf breaks and beaches. Both were relaxing, beautiful, and fun!
It's been a month since I left Bahia, but Salvador and the surrounding area left a huge impression. Bahia is rich in culture, it's large quantity of slaves in the past has created a melting pot for Afro-Brazilian food and dance. Salvador is the heartbeat of Bahia, with capoeira, forro, samba, street festivals and drumming. I was fortunate to be there when the Olympic torch came through which gave locals yet another reason to celebrate!
